For as long as I can remember, video games have been a part of my life. I have very found memories of playing various games such as Super Mario, Ninja Gaiden, and more on the NES at a very young age. A couple years later with the release of the N64 I played games like Donkey Kong 64 that really began to open my eyes to what was possible in a video game. The open world exploration, puzzles and boss battles all flowed together so well.

These games that I played earlier on in my life are the foundation of Embers of Solace. What do I mean by that? Well, if I have to summarize the inspiration of Embers of Solace, it would be like so: the depth and rpg mechanics of Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, the puzzles and exploration of Link's Awakening (Or really any Zelda game) and the combat system of games like Diablo. It draws heavily from various religions and mythology stories such as those from the Greek, Roman, Norse, and Chinese cultures. Going a bit further, Embers of Solace is an open world 2D RPG that has a mixture of skills and abilities you can use in combat. Just like in Elder Scrolls: Morrowind you can kill essential NPCs. You are free to do as you want, just know there are consequences for your actions. That is until you realize the importance of the matter and revert to the previous save.

The various characters you meet throughout the game will have an initial impression of you before you ever meet. Your reputation as you make various decisions throughout the course of the game will shape what happens and ultimately will decide your fate. Will you save those you encounter? Or will you simply conquer all? The choice is yours to make, and yours alone. More about these systems will be revealed as time goes on. Embers of Solace is currently in a Pre-Alpha stage. Currently Milestone 2 of 4 is being worked on, which composes the various quest and dialog systems used in the game. When these 4 initial milestones are finished, a demo will be released for general feedback, from which will shape the goals of the alpha build. Stay tuned for more information on the progress of Embers of Solace.
